How to write a recipe

Do you hesitate in sharing because you're not sure about how to write a recipe?

It's not difficult to write a professional style recipe but to make it really easy we've prepared a simple guide and all you need to do is fill in the blanks.

Preliminary steps

Decide on a name for your recipe. The best recipe name, in our opinion, describes the main ingredient and something about what is special about the preparation. These are very basic examples, I wouldn't be surprised if you are much more inventive. Examples:
- Grandma's Boiled Shrimp Recipe
- Hawaiian Coconut Shrimp
- Chinese Garlic Prawns
- Heart-healthy Shrimp Stir Fry
Make a rough list of all your ingredients:
- put your ingredient list in the order which you use them in the recipe.
- decide how many servings your recipe makes

If you have one, get a picture of your finished preparation in .jpg format.

Now How to Write your Recipe

Just fill in the blanks in the spaces below, replacing the guide words in each of the boxes with your own words describing your recipe. You can use some of our suggested phrases or be as creative as you like.

When you're done, click on the submit button and you'll see a first draft of your recipe. At that point you will be given a chance to upload a photo, and provide your name (or nickname) to have credit for the recipe published.

When you're happy with the way things look, you can choose to have an email sent to you, by choosing to be notified when the page is published, and you're done!

Your Recipe:

2.	This recipe makes .... servings.
3.	A bit of history about the recipe, where it comes from, the culture where it is eaten (if known ... otherwise leave blank)
3a.	Personal notes about the recipe ... how you discovered it, what makes it special to you, special tips about using or serving or variations. (leave blank if none)
3b.	It will take about .... minutes to make this.
4.	The ingredients needed and the amount used, in order which they are used: 1) 2) 3) (add as many as needed)
5.	Describe how you combine and cook your ingredients in as many steps as is necessary. 1) 2) 3) etc.
6.	Describe any special serving tips or suggestions for side dishes which go well with this. If nothing, leave this space blank.

Wasn't that simple? You're on the road to being an expert recipe writer.

Now, when you click on the Submit Review button, below, you'll be taken to a new page where you will see a draft of your complete recipe. This is the regular entry page where you could enter a recipe, but without all the guiding questions you had above.

Use the next page to add a photo then click the submit button because your work on this page has already been done! unless you want to edit what you see there. If you have a photo to add, the place to do it is just below the area with your draft recipe text.
