Fish Stock Recipe

You can use  Fish Stock in so many seafood recipes that knowing how to make it is a basic requisite.  Fortunately it's simple.

Preparation time: 5 Min.
Cooking time: 20 Min.
Servings: cups



• fish bones
• water
• chopped onion
• chopped carrot
• chopped celery
• black peppercorns
• bay leaves

• 2 lb. (1 kg) fish bones

• 3 qt. (3 l) water

• ½ cup (120 ml) chopped onion

• ½ cup (120 ml) chopped carrot

• ½ (120 ml) cup chopped celery

• 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) black peppercorns

• 4 bay leaves



  1. Rinse fish bones in hot water.
  2. Place all ingredients in 4-qt. saucepan; bring to a boil over high heat.
  3. Skim surface. Reduce heat to medium; simmer 20 minutes.
  4. Strain.

If you'd like to give the broth a smoky flavor. add Smoked salmon skin while cooking.
